Get To Know Campus Supervisors
Cynthia Meyers

Ariana Rusk:  “How long have you been a campus supervisor?”

Cynthia Meyers: “This is my fifth year.”

Ariana: “Why did you become a campus supervisor?”

Cynthia: “I thought I wanted to be a teacher and so I thought I would test out campus security and I ended up liking it.”

Ariana: “Why did you choose La Sierra?”

Cynthia: “Actually I was going for Hillcrest and this was going to be a practice interview, but last year they ended up liking me so much that they hired me. So I came here and worked.”

Ariana: “Do you enjoy your job?”

Cynthia: “I do. I love my job. I really do love coming to work every day.”

Ariana: “What’s the hardest part of your job?”

Cynthia: “To see kids, who struggle. And not say anything, but just knowing it’s hard. It’s hard to know. What the students go through and not being able to really help.”

Ariana: “What’s something you wish people knew about your job?”

Cynthia: “It’s probably knowing other kids struggling and we can’t adopt every kid that we want. Take them home and show them that they can have a good life, a good education, a good future.”

Ariana: “What’s your favorite part of your job?”

Cynthia: “I love coming and seeing the kids succeed walking across the stage when they graduate. Especially the ones who struggle and we think won’t make it. That’s my favorite part seeing them graduate.”

Ariana: “What’s your favorite memory from working here?”

Cynthia: “My favorite memory is three years ago seeing kids from Alvord graduate. They all hated school. They said they would never come back. They all still walk across that stage, and they came back to visit.”

Ariana: “What’s something you wish people knew about you?”

Cynthia: “I’m low-key a nerd who loves to do Renaissance fairs and dress up. And speak like back in medieval times.”

Ariana: “What’s a piece of advice you have for others?”

Cynthia: “Don’t listen to everybody. Just do you. Stay positive there’s always another day.”

Jason Henry

Ariana Rusk:  “How long have you been a campus supervisor?”

Jason: “Ten years.”

Ariana: “Why did you become a campus supervisor?”

Jason: “I like working with kids. I used to be campus security at an elementary school. So, I figured I might as well do one at a high school. It sounds more fun.”

Ariana: “Why did you choose La Sierra?”

Jason: “I didn’t really choose La Sierra. I got a job with the district and they kind of placed me here.”

Ariana: “Do you enjoy your job?”

Jason: “I enjoy my job because I got to interact with the kids and all the different  personalities. I get to do teamwork with my co-workers.”

Ariana: “What’s the hardest part of your job?”

Jason: “The hardest part of my job is being patient. Not giving in when kids are being difficult and trying to get you angry, make you a different person.”

Ariana: “What’s something you wish people knew about your job?”

Jason: “It’s very tedious and you got to be very consistent.”

Ariana: “What’s your favorite part of your job?”

Jason: “My favorite part of my job is working with the kids.”

Ariana: “What’s your favorite memory from working here?”

Jason: “I would say it’s seeing the kids who have been struggling, graduate and be successful.”

Ariana: “What’s something you wish people knew about you?”

Jason: “That I have a face that looks like I’m mad, but this is my face and I’m a pretty outgoing guy. And I enjoy a lot of different things in life.”

Danny Gomez

Ariana Rusk:  “How long have you been a campus supervisor?”

Ariana: “Why did you become a campus supervisor?”

Danny: “I wanted to try something different.”

Ariana: “Why did you choose La Sierra?”

Ariana: “Do you enjoy your job?”

Danny: “Students make you enjoy it.”
