What are the people of La Sierra High School’s opinions on our very own football stadium after having to use Norte Vista’s for almost 60 years?
“My opinion on it is that I think it’s a great way for kids to be able to look at the school and be like ‘wow La Sierra made a new football field or just a stadium’ and it will bring more attention and attraction to our school,” Kenneth Galeana (12) said.
This new field that is being built in the near future is a huge advancement for our school when it comes to the look, spirit, and motivation of the players and students. The reason for this boost of spirit is that for as long as we have had a football team we have had to share the field at Norte Vista, and this caused a few cons. One of those being that it is easier for the families of the players to come and watch the games and it is easier for the students in ASB or yearbook to document or assist with the setting up of the game.
When asked whether the new stadium was the correct use of the funds, Assistant Principal Strawn Holmes had this to say in response: “I think it was the best use of part of the J-measure bond because we need it, when else would we get it? We don’t have a stadium, we don’t have a place to play our home games. So eventually we were gonna have to do something anyway.”
This is such an amazing response because when other people are asked this question they give the traditional responses of “they should’ve put that money to the lunch” or “they could’ve gotten us new computers” but none of those will raise school spirit more than a new stadium, which will bring attention to the school and raise the skill and spirit of our sports players.
