The Solar Eclipse
The solar eclipse was amazing. A few the kids came out to see the solar eclipse from science, chemistry, physics, and different classes. All the students are learning more about the solar eclipse, how to say the other and learning more about it. I asked myself does the other class know more about the solar eclipse, so I had a few questions for two students.
- What do you know about the solar eclipse or give facts about it?
Alejandra Coria (11) – “I know that a solar eclipse is like a full solar eclipse; it happens every 20 years, and most show Texas, but in California it doesn’t really show it like its predicted to 25%, 50%, and a full eclipse compliment like very dark, but I didn’t see the full eclipse since the solar eclipse was the school day and I only saw half of it on the passing period, which was pretty cool to see.”
Aliayna Aguirre (11) – “I’m trying to remember what I learned in conceptual physics. Oh, I remember that when the moon s fully with the penumbra, you will see only a light shadow on the moon, and a fact I know is that if you look at the sun, you will damage your eye without knowing it.”
- Do you think you will see the other solar eclipse in Aug. 23, 2044? If yes who do think you will watch it with you?
Alejandra Coria – “Yes, I think we will see the solar eclipse on August 23, 2044. I think I will be like 36 when I see the solar eclipse, since I’m going to be 36 in 2044. That’s crazy, but anyway, I think I’m going to watch with my friends, like on the beach.
Aliayna Aguirre – “Yeah maybe, if I remember the solar eclipse is coming Aug 23 ,2024 and I’m probably going to watch it with my friends or family.”
- What are the differences between solar eclipse and lunar solar eclipse?
Alejandra Coria: “The difference between the solar eclipse and the lunar eclipse is that the lunar eclipse occurs when the earth is between the sun and the moon, making the earth cast a show on the moon, and the solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the sun and the earth, causing a show on the earth.”
Aliayna Aguirre: “I don’t know what a lunar eclipse is, but I know the difference between a solar eclipse and a partial eclipse. When the partial eclipse happens, the moon passes between the sun and earth, but the sun and moon are not perfectly lined up. But the solar eclipse is perfectly lined up since the moon will line up perfectly between the earth and the sun.”
