The school has started this chance for students to get easy access to food since around 2021 after the pandemic hit. Students have the opportunity to order food online through the DoorDash app and get it delivered to the front office.
When talking to the front desk ladies in the office they had their input on the difficult part of the DoorDash dropoff routine. Mrs. Washington responds by talking about how they
handle complaints from students when they order.
Mrs. W: We’ll try to figure out who took food that wasn’t theirs and report it to an administrator if it has to do with any stealing.
To decrease the number of students stealing, the school added a new protocol unlike other schools.
Mrs. W: Admin added this new rule so that kids can order food if they can’t get the off-campus pass for lunch. So we now check for confirmation pictures when their food is delivered.
When talking to students about their orders, Ruby Perez, a senior, gave us her estimate on how much she spends monthly and if she has ever thought or planned on limiting herself on spending.
Ruby: I probably spend around $130 a month. I do plan on limiting myself because it’s not even my money that I use to order food.
