What did you learn in avid that will prepare you for college?
Monica Estrada:
“I learned many things. Do you know the basics of organizing, rationing, and just repairs? And it gives you extra knowledge. I wouldn’t learn any from other classes, but above that, it also shows you what it’s like to have a family like a community around AVID, and there’s a lot of support from Abbott, and they gave me extra sources to prepare for college.”
What made you take avid?
Monica Estrada:
“So I started AVID in 6th grade, and then I just kept going there. I knew that high school was where I wanted to go. I know that it mostly helps you in junior year and then senior year, but I just wanted to stick through it. So, it looks like I’m commuting something because I am and I love the program.”
Have you started making a list of colleges you’re interested in?
Monica Estrada:
“The college I want to go to and in which I’m interested is UCR or UCI in San Diego, so one of those that I feel like wanting to go to has been on my mind, and I’m still thinking about it. From this year.”
Have you ever visited any college campuses yet? Have you learned anything? What were your impressions?
Monica Estrada:
“Yeah, I went to UC San Diego, and I recently went to a college, but I don’t remember the name, but I pretty much went to see around colleges, and I have learned each campus is really different and the environment is very different.”
What are you trying to major in for college? Can you tell me why you want to major in it in college?
Monica Estrada:
“The major I would love to do something in psychology. But I’m not really pretty sure on it; I’m still thinking about it right now, but hopefully I do become a psychologist.”
